“You can’t talk about a great wine without talking about a great terroir. The land is the basis for everything. But one of the most important things is the influence of people – the way we support the vines over a long period of time until we find the expression that identifies us, which we can help turn into something unforgettable.”
Andrés Vignoni, Consultant winemaker of Pinea
The keys of a privileged terroir.
In the south of old Europe, in the historic Spanish region of Castilla y León, lies the Ribera del Duero.
This wonderful land, at an average altitude of 900 metres above sea level, gives us the perfect conditions to create something unforgettable.

General characteristics
A variety of altitudes, slopes and soil textures, from sandy to clayey, but with abundant presence of calcareous content.
Parcels
Nine parcels facing in different directions, with vines of varying ages.
- At this altitude, the vines benefit from almost 360 degrees of exposure and different rich soil types, generally sandy soils with plenty of limestone
- These soils and the harsh climate of the area give our grapes and wines a very special personality of their own.
- Deeply structured rooting systems allow vines to develop under extreme temperatures, without artificial irrigation.
- The abrupt temperature changes, from cold, snowy winters to very hot summer days, and the huge temperature fluctuation between day and night during the ripening season, make the Pinea Domain a unique place, where the Tempranillo grape expresses its character like nowhere else in the world.
The setting where we make our wines: La Ribera del Duero
- A unique, complex land. A land of wine, marked by the passage of time and very tough conditions. Ribera del Duero shapes our character and, at the same time, allows us to seek our own essence.
