A WINE THAT WANTS TO BE SUSPENDED IN TIME
“A concentrated, elegant Ribera del Duero with a persistent, polished finish”
James Suckling

- PINEA is a signature wine named after the majestic, legendary Pinus Pinea tree that stands guard over our vineyards.
- It’s a wine made with passion, sensitivity and deep respect for its origin.
- Fermented and aged entirely in French oak barrels, it comes from “Cardisanto”, a unique vineyard from which we obtain the best grapes of our Domain. This is a terroir so astonishing that it astonishes you in the glass with its structure, acidity, elegant texture and the echo of its aromas on the palate.
- Pinea is aged and blended in new and multi-purpose, fine-grained and medium toasted French oak barrels. Beautifully integrated, structured tannins allowing the grape to express itself fully.
Tasting notes
Ageing: 3 winters Keep: 30 years
This is an opaque wine with a bright ruby rim showing its years of ageing.
It has an intense aroma with plenty of personality and notes reminiscent of black fruit blending with spicy and toasted touches enhancing the marked complexity it expresses.
On the palate it imposes itself, with great structure provided by its intense tannins refined with a vibrant acidity that lifts the elegance of the wine in its long finish.
The origin
Pinea comes entirely from Cardisanto, a unique vineyard where we obtain the best grapes on our estate. The vines, which are more than 25 years old and cover an area of 4.5 hectares, grow at an average altitude of 931-942 metres above sea level on loamy clay soils.

Vine-growing and harvest
From respect and love for the land to a slow understanding of its harmony and biorhythms, our work in the field represents an alliance with biodiversity and centuries-old traditions.
Manual harvesting and a sustainable viticulture model are the key to ensuring that our wines are a true reflection of the terroir from which they come and that the grape retains its prominence.

“Robust body, with blackberry and fig flavours enveloped in chocolate notes from 30 months of ageing in French oak barrels. The oak and the density remain until the finish”
Wine Enthusiast Magazine
Wine-making and aging
Vinification in new (80%) and used (20%) fine-grained, medium-toasted French oak barrels, from the alcoholic fermentation through the malolactic fermentation to the end of the ageing process.

Recommended consumption
The wine is ready to be enjoyed as soon as you have the bottle in your hands, but it reaches its best about 6-7 years later.
We recommend serving it at 18º and allowing it to adjust.

Pairing | PINEA

“To achieve the best pairing with Pinea, it’s best if you can understand where it comes from. The climatic differences of La Ribera and its complex, austere soils provide different products of the highest quality, with great flavour, all year round. That’s why this long-aged wine understands and conveys that sense of place and can accompany traditional suckling lamb chops roasted on a wood fire; spicy stews made with game, local cereals and vegetables; soft goat cheeses with reduction of figs; and caramelised pine nuts with aniseed. The descriptors and textures of these foods simply reflect the subtle touches this wine carries with it.” Andrés Vignoni, Consultant Winemaker at PINEA
