17 by PINEA
Tempranillo. DO Ribera del Duero
A wine full of meaning that shows the full beauty of Tempranillo
17 commemorates a year of triumphs for PINEA
Subtle at first contact, bold and lively, it’s a wine you always want to come back to and it’s difficult to forget.
“A perfect combination of deep concentration and elegance and very silky tannins, with a serious structure, all expressed with fluidity. I am impressed by the texture of this wine”
Jancis Robinson
- The perfect synthesis of our terroir.
- 17 by PINEA is a 100% Tempranillo red wine, with a fine, velvety texture that combines a luxurious core of fruit and subtle notes of new and multipurpose wood, giving it freshness as well as body and intensity.
- 17 reflects the full potential of the Tempranillo grape, harmoniously capturing the intensity of flavours and aromas typical of the Ribera del Duero, but from a new angle with different, subtle charms.
- The wine is bright and full of life in the glass. Its cherry red colour with shades of violet leads to intense, perfumed aromas of red and black fruit, especially blackberries, plums and blueberries. Subtle balsamic hints from the oak wood mingle with sweet spices, vanilla, cocoa and lightly toasted oak. Smooth and powerful in the mouth, it leaves deep, rounded finish.
Tasting notes
Ageing: 2 winters Keep: 20 yearsA bright wine with a purple rim full of energy, reflecting its vitality.
On the nose it is relentlessly fresh, opening with notes reminiscent of wild berries and some red fruit, enhanced by very fine, respectful notes of wood in the background, enlivening its fragrance.
It shows intense fleshiness with velvety tannins, which flow thanks to its marked acidity giving a fully harmonised wine.
The origin
17 comes from a careful selection of grapes from the 35 hectares of the Pinea Estate; a mosaic of nine plots with different characteristics of soil, slope, orientation and age. The perfect synthesis of out terroir.
Vine-growing and harvest
The grapes are harvested by hand, with a first selection in the field in boxes of between 12 and 14 kilos. Once in the winery, we make a second selection of grapes, keeping only the best bunches.
We work the vineyards with the utmost respect for the environment, in alliance with biodiversity and centuries-old traditions, to ensure that the fruit is the star of our wines and a true reflection of the terroir from which it comes.
«An expressive nose of ripe raspberries, cinnamon and vanilla. The palate is firmly structured and multi-layered, with lovely purity, ripe, rounded tannins and a really good, persistent of flavour»

Wine-making and aging
Fermentation is carried out in 10,000-litre stainless steel tanks, with initial cold maceration to preserve all the aromas of the variety. Once the prefermentation phase is over, fermentation continues at a controlled temperature, encouraging the extraction of the colour and polyphenols that give the wine some of its body and complexity.
Each vintage of 17 spends at least two winters in new and multi-purpose French oak barrels, and in other aging methods such as concrete eggs.
Recommended consumption
The wine is ready to be enjoyed as soon as you have the bottle in your hands, but it reaches its best about two years later.
We recommend serving it at a temperature of 16º.

Because, in his own words, “such an exquisite and complex wine deserves a humble ingredient like an onion”.
