100% Tempranillo. DO Ribera del Duero

“17” harmoniously captures the intensity of flavours and aromas typical of Ribera del Duero wines, reflecting the full potential of Tempranillo.

  • A medium-bodied wine in which fruit and toasted oak blend in perfect balance, giving it freshness and at the same time structure and intensity.
  • 2020 was a warm year with little climatic variation resulting in very healthy fruit.

Tasting notes

Ageing: 2 winters Keep: 20 years

The wine shows ruby tones in the core with a violet rim.

Very perfumed, with aromas of black forest fruit and ripe cherries; expressive, lively blackberry tones, with vanilla tones and very soft notes of cedar.

Medium-bodied with a very elegant, velvety texture and a round, deep finish. The wine fills the mouth in a multi-sensory journey that reveals flavours as it passes through. Acidity regulated by a mineral background typical of the chalky soils where the vineyards grow. Very well integrated tannins with a very long and persistent finish.

Alcoholic content: 15%

Own vineyards:
17 is sourced from a large selection of grapes from the 35 hectares that make up the Pinea Estate; a mosaic of nine plots with different soil characteristics, slope, orientation and age.

Harvest by hand:
September 28, 2020 to October 10, 2020.

Vinification and ageing:
Fermentation is carried out in 10,000-litre stainless steel tanks, with initial cold maceration to preserve all the aromas of the variety. Once the prefermentation phase is over, fermentation continues at a controlled temperature, encouraging the extraction of the colour and polyphenols that give the wine some of its body and complexity. Aged for 2 winters in new French oak barrels.

Lalo honours us with a recipe specifically created to pair perfectly with 17 by PINEA: «Organic onion cooked in its own juice».

Because, in his own words, “such an exquisite and complex wine deserves a humble ingredient like an onion”.
