Albillo Mayor and other native white varieties. D.O. Ribera del Duero

A true enigma

A reinterpretation of Albillo that captivates in a land devoted to reds.

Top 3 Best White Wines in Spain | Wine Enthusiast

A wine that seems to whisper from different places—perhaps from the energies woven into the two vintages entwined at its conception.

A wine you feel before even raising the glass. An aroma that envelops. A creaminess that lingers. A creaminess that lingers.

A WHITE YOU DON´T JUST DRINK — YOU FEEL. QUITE SIMPLY UNFORGETTABLE.

“A delicious older Albillo with a creamy edge of lemon peel and minerals. Dry and medium-bodied in texture, cut by fresh, creamy acidity”

James Suckling

«A truly special white wine. Unique, meant to be savored slowly»

Jancis Robinson

  • From a mosaic of small, old vineyards in the Burgos stretch of Ribera, KORDE Blanc arises where Albillo Mayor —the region’s defining variety— lives alongside other native whites such as Viura, Pirulés and Malvasía Castellana. Planted as the village elders once did, these ancient vines hold within them the living memory of Ribera’s viticulture. Out of that diversity, brought together in the cellar, emerges a symphony of nuances impossible to replicate.
  • KORDE Blanc is a wine of depth and complexity, with an enveloping profile, subtle notes of blossom and stone fruit, and a creamy, persistent finish that prolongs its memory. Precise, vibrant, saline. The mineral imprint of the soil carried into the glass.
  • An enigmatic white, shaped by sensitivity, which reclaims the expressive power of Albillo. Its depth is born from the careful interplay of two consecutive vintages.
  • Fermentation and ageing take place entirely in French oak barrels of varying age. The first vintage rests for twelve months before merging with the next, which ferments in barrel and matures on its fine lees for a further six months. A passage through two winters that grants the wine texture, aromatic layering and a cellaring potential of up to fifteen years.
  • The result is a white of singular character —layered, taut, resonant— that speaks with the voice of Albillo and of the land that gave it life.
  • The most romantic wine of PINEA: a white that is not merely drunk, but felt. Simply unforgettable.

Tasting notes

Aging: 2 winters Cellaring potential: 15 years

Brilliant, limpid straw yellow.

On the nose, it unfolds with restrained elegance, revealing notes of white flowers and ripe citrus, wrapped in a delicate saline touch that adds depth. The first vintage, shaped by longer ageing, provides the backbone of structure and gravitas, while the following brings tension, energy, and a vibrant freshness.

On the palate, it shows precision and breadth. A taut acidity balances its creamy texture, delivering an agile yet persistent sensation. A white of character and finesse, it evolves in the glass and leaves a long, clean, and subtly mineral finish.

Origin

The origin of KORDE Blanc lies in a mosaic of old vines rooted between 880 and 910 metres above sea level, in the Burgos area of Ribera del Duero. Here, in the villages of Guzmán, Quintana del Pidio and Zazuar, Albillo Mayor —the region’s historic grape— shares space with other indigenous white varieties such as Viura, Pirulés and Malvasía Castellana. Planted as the “grandparents” of the land once did, these venerable vines sink their roots into sandy, clay and limestone soils that confer both tension and character to the wine.

A plural vineyard, steeped in memory, where varietal diversity interlaces to shape a harmonious and unrepeatable expression.

Viticulture and harvest

At PINEA, harvest always begins with the white grapes, which ripen before the reds. Guided by our pursuit of freshness, lower alcohol levels and the primacy of fruit, we harvest earlier than is customary in Ribera, beginning in the first weeks of September.

Picking is done by hand at dawn, when the cool air preserves the grapes’ freshness and keeps the skins firm until they reach the winery. A first selection takes place in the vineyard, with grapes placed in small 14-kilo crates, followed by a second sorting in the cellar to retain only the finest clusters.

Our viticulture follows the utmost respect for the environment, in harmony with biodiversity and time-honoured traditions, so that every wine becomes the purest reflection of its terroir.

Wine-making and aging

KORDE Blanc is born from the assemblage of two consecutive vintages —a dialogue between times that brings both depth and freshness to the same wine. Fermentation and aging take place entirely in French oak barrels of different uses, where the wood supports without ever overpowering.

The first harvest is refined for a year in barrel before joining the following one, which also ferments in oak and rests on its fine lees for a further six months. This ageing across two winters bestows the wine with an enveloping texture, aromatic complexity, and a cellaring potential that stretches close to fifteen years.

Serving recommendation

Pairing | KORDE Blanc

“Anyone who has the privilege of opening a bottle of KORDE Blanc is in for a true puzzle. This complex wine seems to speak to you from different places, perhaps the converging energies of the two vintages that have been blended together to create it…. Anyone who has the pleasure of drinking it can enjoy it with any of the delicacies our country offers us. It is sufficiently rugged to accompany roast lamb or suckling pig. But it is also so elegant that it will entirely respect the finesse of a sole meunière
