PSOUL 2018 is the inaugural vintage of our most limited and exclusive label.
- The 2018 vintage was characterised by near-perfect weather. The vines recovered from the late frost in April 2017. After moderate temperatures in May and June, ripening was expected to be compromised, but in late July and August, optimal temperatures and some heat waves brought the cycle forward. Despite the spring humidity and some scattered summer storms, the health of the bunches was not compromised. On average, September was the warmest September since 1965 in Spain, with dramatic temperature swings between day and night.
- The weather conditions were ideal for the harvest and the grapes arrived at the winery in excellent condition.
Tasting notes
Ageing: 3 winters Keep: 30 yearsAn unctuous, medium to full-bodied wine, bright and clear in appearance with a cherry red rim.
A great blend of fruit, floral and spicy aromas, dominated by blackberries, ripe black cherries, dried figs, strawberries and blackcurrants, with perfumed aromas of hibiscus, violets and lavender and hints of tobacco leaves, fresh leather and cedar wood. Deeply intense black fruit defining good ripeness, over an elegant, toasted background.
Medium-bodied with a powerful but elegant approach and a rich, velvety texture from beginning to end. The sculptured tannins are well integrated, showing a perfect balance as they pass through the mouth, with vibrant acidity and a long, flavourful finish. Sweet black forest fruits, blackberries and ripe black plums blend with aromas of eucalyptus and spices, like clove and black pepper, while mild flavours of nuts, coffee and smoke enrich a harmonious finish.

Own vineyards:
PSOUL procede de cepas de 50 años situadas en el plateau calcáreo de Cardisanto. This beautiful landscape, between 931-942 metres above sea level, is the result of a conjunction of different exposures and the complexity of its soils, with bedrock present everywhere, even on the surface.
Harvest by hand:
1 to 10 October 2018.
Vinification and ageing:
Fermentation and ageing took place in a single 500-litre French oak barrel for 24 months.

Recommended consumption:
It is ready to be enjoyed as soon as you have the bottle in your hands, but it will be at its very best from year 8 onwards.
We recommend serving it at 18º and allowing it to adjust.

“The result of PSOUL’s alchemy is an aesthetic wine, delicate as saffron, but as powerful as red meat and game cooked with dried fruit.
It is elegant and long, and you will find excellent expression in the form of ripe fruit compote with hibiscus notes, or sweet and savoury crunchy spices with woodland honey.
It’s a deep, spicy wine enhanced by the flavour of garlic toasted in butter. The finish is so subtle that it also goes well with grilled rockfish from the icy waters of the north.
